We will meet 1x week on Wednesdays and refine writing genres. Students will be working on elaborating personal narratives, opinion, and expository text. Students will go through the entire writing process and rules for each genre and create a mini portfolio as a culminating activity. Benefits of writing enrichment classes Enrolling in a writing enrichment class offers significant benefits beyond standard classroom education.  ● Increased confidence: A supportive environment and constructive feedback can help a writer, especially a reluctant one, develop confidence in their abilities. ● Enhanced communication skills: Targeted practice leads to improved grammar, vocabulary, and ability to express thoughts with clarity and precision. ● Critical thinking: The writing process, particularly in classes that involve peer critiques, strengthens critical thinking and analytical skills. ● Improved reading comprehension: Students who engage in writing often become stronger readers as they learn to notice how authors build stories, characters, and dramatic effects. ● Skill development: Classes teach specific techniques and strategies, such as brainstorming ideas, structuring stories, and providing feedback to others.
